This week on Thursday October 13th several of the Desert Sage Quilters went to the Magic Valley Quilt Guild in Burley to show their quilts as a program for the guild.  As you can see they had a great time and as you know it is always great to spend time with other quilters.....

Joyce Gronenthal is looking for quilts to hang in the Twin Falls  Library Quilt Display.  Each quilt is displayed for six weeks and they need to have your name on the back along with a little history about the quilt which hangs along side of your quilt  in the display.  Here is the current quilt hanging at the library-

Please contact Joyce at 731-6189 or email her at joycegro64@gmail.com for information.

January Guild Meeting

Laurel Dillman gave a fantastic program about
"Batting"

She has done a study of 35 different batting types.
She passed around her batting samples that were in bundles
with original quilting and then the ones she has washed.
It was very informative....

                    "Barn Quilt Trail"
                Guidelines

The A-Team Applique' Group is sponsoring a special exhibit for the April 2017
"Desert Sage Quilters" ~ Quilt Show.
The exhibit will be called
                       "The Barn Quilt Trail"

Here are the details:

Definitions:
A Barn Quilt: A single quilt block (not a whole quilt) that is incorporated somewhere within your project.
The Project: Your complete wall hanging (about 18" x 22") that, somewhere within it, contains a barn quilt.
The Barn Quilt Trail: A continuous linear display of all the projects (wall hanging) that are entered for this exhibit. Collectively all entries make up the "Trail"

Size:
18"x22" (about the size of a fat quarter)

Theme:
While the exhibit is called "The Barn Quilt Trail" the barn quilt does not need to be on a barn. While you may place it on a barn you may also place it on a building, fence or post for example. There is no requirement to have a barn on your project unless that is what you chose to do.

Fabric:
"Red fabric" must appear in the barn quilt block. All projects have this "red fabric" in common. The "red fabric" may appear in other areas of the project as well. The required "red fabric" is available for the Applique Group.

Binding:
Outer edge must be finished. May use binding method of your choice. While projects will be displayed side by side there will be no continuous elements as in past projects (as in the river quilts or garden path quilts) A hanging sleeve is optional.

Due Date:
March 2017
