There are different instructors at each table with different stitches for you to practice making. You will have time at each table. All Materials will be supplied. You will need to bring a pair of small scissors. Examples of some of the stitches are bouillon stitch 3 different ways, filler stitch to make a free form leaf, buttonhole stitch, knotted pearl stitch, cast on stitch to make a flower and a cretan stitch.

There is space available but we would like to have a general idea of how many will attend so we have enough supplies. If you plan on attending please contact Pat @ daileyplace@gmail.com or call 329-3547 if you have not confirmed already

Last month I had the opportunity to visit with the "Community Quilt Group" that gathers twice a month at Hancock Fabric's here is Twin Falls. It is funny how you can attend our guild meetings and listen to the "Community Quilt Ladies" talk about their quilt projects but never really get the big picture of what they do. I am not the expert on this subject and decided to go to one of their work days and it was awesome.

The day I went they just received a ton of quilts from one of their
many volunteers as you can see in this photo of a shopping chart full of
quilts ready to have the binding sewn on.

Trying to interview them for this post was
challenging because there was a bee hive of
activity around handing out assignments for
the day. Several volunteers came to work and
many more work out of their houses.

As you can see there are all phases of quilting happening in Hancock's classroom. Then they took me to the back room where all of their supplies are stored.

Everything in this room is donated except the batting which our guild helps with financially,

This is what I found out about the "Community Quilts Group". The "Community Quilts Group" donates to an average of 16 different groups during any given year. Just a few are:
St Luke's Twin Falls - NICU, Pediatrics, MSTI, and pediatrics in Jerome. Valley House, Neighbors in Need, Safe House, Women's Crisis Center,
CSI Refugee Center, Burn -out victims who lost a child in fire, 5th District Judicial CASA (Foster Child Program) and this list goes on and on. They need volunteers to help sew the quilts, tie or quilt the quilts. Right now they have an overabundance of quilts that need bindings. If you are interested in helping out you can contact Phyllis ByBee, Sue Pack or Susan Stallings for more information. I believe this is one of the coolest things we do as a guild and one of the most rewarding. So if you are looking at how to be more involved this might be your outlet, sewing quilts for this organization. There is nothing like a soft quilt in a time of crisis. I also, need to mention that the "Community Quilts Group" also, sews pillowcases and cuddle cloths to donate as well. My short time with them was fantastic! Thanks Sue, Phyllis ans Susan....
